The policy statement of President Benigno S. Aquino III (PNoy), “We shall endeavor to restore confidence in a peace process that is transparent and participative.” prompted the revival of the YES FOR PEACE – Bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan campaign.
The questions were reformulated with reference to United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 53/243 – Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace – to keep abreast of developments in the comprehensive peace process as well as the ongoing peace negotiations in cooperation with BAYAN MUNA and the IBON Foundation.
The Philippine Post Corporation (PhilPost); Department of Education (DepEd); the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); and the DepEd National Employees’ Union (DepEd NEU) sustained their support.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) supported various activities of the campaign through the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, OJ7.
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) maintained its inexplicable hands-off stand on the campaign. It ignored requests for support, including its endorsement and intercession for the delivery of responses to PNoy.
Former President Fidel V. Ramos joined campaign advocates in bringing Six Million One Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-Five (6,155,945) responses to the attention of PNoy during 27th Anniversary of 1986 People Power Revolution.
Eleven Million Two Hundred Thirty-Six Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty-One (11,236,981) Responses were symbolically turned over to the government during the 30th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. The campaign was hailed as the “Bagong Mukha ng People Power.
Eleven Million Five Seventy Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-Six (11,570,696) responses were generated during the term of PNoy.
