Bottom-Up Declaration of YES FOR PEACE, UNITY AND DEVELOPMENTAL ZONES
People-centric and bottom-up declaration of Schools, Barangays, Cities/ Municipalities; Provinces; and Regions as YES FOR PEACE, UNITY and DEVELOPMENT Zones based on results of the open referendum.
This phase shall be aligned with the “National Action Plan on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism” of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and shall be undertaken pursuant to its main objective “to prevent radicalization leading to violent extremism through a whole-of-nation approach or convergence of government, civil society organizations, religious sector and other key stakeholders.”
Schools shall be declared as YES FOR PEACE, UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT Zones based on results of the open referendum.
Barangays shall be declared as such when the majority of schools within its respective area of jurisdiction have been declared as such.
Cities / Municipalities shall be declared as such when the majority of Barangays within its respective area of jurisdiction have been declared as such.
Provinces shall be declared as such when the majority of Cities and Municipalities within its respective area of jurisdiction have been declared as such.
Regions shall be declared as such when the majority of Provinces within its respective area of jurisdiction have been declared as such.
Finally, the whole Philippines shall be declared as such when the majority of the Regions have been declared as such.
- Key Result Area: Upward declaration of YES FOR PEACE, UNITY and DEVELOPMENT Zones from the school all the way up to the national level.
- Key Performance Indicator: The declaration of the Philippines as a YES FOR PEACE, UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT Zone.
- SMART Objective: The Philippines shall have been declared YES FOR PEACE, UNITY and DEVELOPMENT Zones and the United Nations General Assembly shall have been informed about pursuant to Sustainable Development Goal No. 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by December 10, 2024.
The issuance of a DILG Memorandum mandating the participation of local government units and proactive participation in calling for people’s participation by Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr. is the key to ensure the success of this phase.
